1. Know your target audience.
As a brand, the goal is to appeal to a particular set of individuals. After all, a brand has its own unique identity. Business owners must be aware of the kinds of platforms that they use. If they look closely enough, they will see trends and patterns of behavior among certain audiences. What they don't want to happen is to create a message that does not successfully catch the attention of their audience, which makes it more important that they understand them well.
2. Tell a story.
There's nothing that engages people better than a story that is told well. Just think of the many viral posts out there that are just hard to resist sharing. A story is effective when it is entertaining. However, the real magic in a story happens when people can relate to its lessons and values well. A story must have the ability to strike a chord in your audience.
3. Make use of senses in your messaging.
Although the obvious appeal to any content is on what can be seen, don't make the mistake of thinking that the only sense at work in a viewer is the sense of sight. With enough creativity, all senses can be appealed to in the content. Make sure the content has the right mix of sensory cues that will allow the audience to fill in the blanks with their imagination. William Seegmiller has a lot of very concrete suggestions on how this can be achieved.
