Exhibit 8: InRoads logo

Background

I am redesigning a website for a mental health services company called InRoads. Part of the redesign is a new logo or vectorization of the original logo, as seen in the top left corner. Here is the old website: www.inroadspsr.com

The top right and bottom left designs are similar in using the company initials and a road in the design, although the bottom left is more abstract. I think the top right is more recognizable as an "i" and an "R," although the "R" is at risk of being mistaken for a "P." The Bottom left logo is more abstract but I feel like it is more professional. More keen eyes will be rewarded in recognizing the "I" and "R" and the road wrapping across it.

The bottom right is the safest redesign. The company name is clearly stated and can be separated from the symbol, although the symbol doesn't represent the company name in any way. A possible redesign could include an "I" and "R" in the shadows of the mountain over the road.

Elements

  • Text creation from shapes

  • Shape tools

  • Adobe Illustrator pen tool

  • Clipping mask

  • Live paint groups

Design considerations

  • Proximity: Each element of the collage is separated by the same amount of space.

  • Alignment: All the designs have careful alignment with each other, especially in the case of letters. Geometric precision is key.

  • Repetition: Across all the designs, the road is repeated, as well as some form of the company name. The upper right logo has slight repetition in the curved road and curve of the "R."

  • Contrast: The bottom left logo has the best case of contrast. The curved road stands out against the hard lines of the abstract "I" and "R." For the upper right, the road cutting across the letters contrasts the otherwise uniformity of the letters.

  • Color: I chose a light blue color to use in the logos to represent trustworthiness and professionalism. Depending on the client's preference, this may change.
