Throughout this school year there have been changing policies surrounding the dress code, specifically over head wear. While dress codes seem to be a common problem that makes the news and that students are given as a persuasive topic to write on in class, it still is an issue today. The current practices surrounding dress codes are often inequitable toward sex, race, and ability.
This action plan will address the inequity in the current dress code policies at a school site and provide guidance to change dress code policies that target subordinate groups.
While this action plan is tailored to the administration and committee looking at revisions to next year's handbook, it can be tailored to other school sites with similar inequities.
