During hard times, sometimes it is easy to lose track of things that are going well or things that you are grateful for. Some times we tend to focus a lot of our energy toward the negatives without thinking about the things we actually do have.
Gratitude is actually a powerful tool. According to The Power of Gratitude by Kevin Eikenberry, a leadership expert, gratitude helps you improve relationships and problem solving skills, reduce negativity, and learn. He states that Gratitude is an attitude, choice, and should be a habit (2020).
Making gratitude a habit is relatively easy to do and has a lot of benefits. Keeping a gratitude journal or list is a great way to focus on the positives in your life. Challenge yourself to write down two new things each day that you are grateful for and when you are feeling down, look at your list.

Challenge: During times of darkness, it is easy to focus on ourselves. This week I challenge you to reach out someone who may be struggling. This person can be a family member, classmate, friend, or acquaintance. Just give your person a call, write a note, text him/her, or even send an email to let him/her know you are thinking about him/her. We are in this together and need to check in on each other!
