Child Supervision:
At least two non-related persons should be present at every function for the class or other enclosed areas that contain children under 8 years old during every student’s program. The main leaderleade in charge (Teacher) should be over 18 years old. Helpers and volunteers must be trained before child supervision of a classroom.
Contractors should be prepared to receive students 15 minutes before a scheduled activity and should keep watch over those in their care until an authorized person has picked every child up. Do not send students out to find their parents and do not release any child from your supervision. Leaders will be present until all students are picked up.
Snacks:
Children may only have snacks from their own home. Children may not share within the classroom with other students.
If a teacher would like to offer food during an event or special occasion the school administration must be notified. This is so that parents can be notified and allergies can be noted.
It is important to be familiar with the allergies of the students in your care. Information about allergies and special needs can be found in office records under the Vice PrincipalPrinicipal.
Illness or Injuries
If a volunteer/worker is sick (with a fever or has a communicable disease that can be transmitted by cough or by touch), please refrain from participating in any activity. Find a screened substitute to take your place. Contact school administrators for suitable names.
If a child in your care is ill, please notify school administration. Parents will be notified to pick up their child. If this is not possible, then the child who is ill should be isolated in a manner that will allow supervision to continue until the child can be returned to their parent or guardian.
Reasonable steps should be taken to avoid contact with anyone with body fluids of any kind. Vomit absorbent is available in each room.
Any injury which may require medical treatment beyond simple first aid should be given immediate attention. The parent or guardian of the injured child should be immediately notified, along with the school administrators.
School administrators who become aware of an injury to a worker or participant will take steps to ensure proper medical attention is given to the injured person. Persons who have received a minor injury, should be given first aid as needed at the time of injury. A written Incident report should be prepared by contractors whenever an injury occurs.
Cell Phone Usage
The personal use of cell phones in the classroom is prohibited. Personal calls, emails, and communication via social media must be handled on personal time. If you have an emergency situation, contact school administrators.
Photo Policy
Students who are participating in programs at the school should not be photographed for a contractor’s personal use. Pictures of students should never be shared on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.). It is never appropriate to take photographs of students if they are not fully clothed. Acceptable uses of students’ pictures include: bulletin boards, placemats or place cards that are used in a specific program, craft projects, or pictures for parents.
Record Keeping
Attendance for students and volunteers must be kept for functions involving students. These records are kept if there is ever a question, situation or allegation. The date of the function, along with the names of all participants and volunteers/contractors should be recorded. The procedures vary according to the activity. Carefully follow the procedures given by the school administrator.
Violation of Policy or Procedures
Contractors must promptly notify their school administrator of any activity undertaken on their own behalf or by others that violates this policy or procedures.
Any leader who becomes aware of a violation of the policy or procedures will take all necessary steps to obtain future compliance with the policy and procedures by all volunteers/contractors; and will remove them from their position if such removal is warranted, or if they pose a potential threat to others.
