Over the past year, the senior alumni of the Wuhan University Alumni Association of Canada have used handicrafts as their brush and garments as their canvas, painting countless moving moments on the stage of multiculturalism.

The "2026 Canada-Hubei Lunar New Year Gala (Year of the Horse) Seniors' Art Fashion Show," co-hosted by the Wuhan University Alumni Association of Canada and Hubei regional associations in Canada, recently came to a successful close. The highlight of the event was the art fashion performance presented by senior alumni and fellow townspeople. Dressed in elegant costumes and walking with grace, they showcased the poise and confidence of the silver-haired community, earning thunderous applause from the audience. This unique New Year's gathering brought the nostalgic charm of Hubei and the festive spirit of the Spring Festival to life overseas, blending them warmly together.
2025年11月20日,武汉大学加拿大校友会荣幸参与“多元文化之夜”高校政府项目,以中国传统文化为媒,向各界嘉宾展示东方艺术的独特魅力。
活动现场,校友们展出的传统字画笔墨隽永,山水花鸟间流淌着千年文脉;传统服装设计展示则将古典元素与现代审美巧妙融合,霓裳华服,步步生莲,赢得满堂喝彩。
这场文化盛宴,不仅让中华传统艺术在多元文化的舞台上熠熠生辉,更展现了武大校友传播中华文化、促进文化交流的赤诚之心。
November 20, 2025, the Alumni of Wuhan University in Canada had the honor of participating in the "Multicultural Night" University Government Program, showcasing the timeless beauty of traditional Chinese culture to a diverse audience.
At the event, alumni presented traditional Chinese calligraphy and paintings, where landscapes and floral motifs whispered stories of millennia-old heritage. The traditional costume design showcase seamlessly blended classical elegance with contemporary aesthetics, as models graced the stage in exquisite attire, earning rounds of applause.
This cultural celebration not only highlighted the richness of Chinese artistic traditions on a multicultural stage but also reflected the dedication of Wuhan University alumni to promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
在举办的大型庆典活动上,我校/中心老年学员与指导老师联袂献上了一场精彩绝伦的手工艺作品展。展览涵盖面团艺术、服装设计、花卉编织,铁丝艺术等多个门类,作品构思巧妙、技艺精湛,令现场观众赞叹不已,成为庆典上一道亮丽的风景线。
这些巧夺天工的作品,是老年学员们定期学习、潜心创作的结晶。通过系统的工艺课程学习,他们不仅掌握了新技能,更在艺术创作中收获了巨大的成就感与身心愉悦,真正实现了“老有所学、老有所乐”。
At a grand celebration, our school/center's senior students and their instructors jointly presented a magnificent exhibition of handicrafts. The exhibition encompassed various categories, including dough art, clothing design, flower weaving, and wire art.. The ingenious designs and exquisite craftsmanship of the works drew admiration from the audience, becoming a beautiful highlight of the celebration.
These exquisite pieces are the culmination of the senior students' regular learning and dedicated creation. Through systematic craft courses, they not only mastered new skills but also gained a tremendous sense of accomplishment and joy in artistic creation, truly achieving "learning and enjoyment in old age."

2025年7月27日下午,武汉大学加拿大校友会在安大略省万锦市枫叶地产会议室成功举办了一场别开生面的“中国面食手工艺术”讲座课堂,吸引了近30位校友和社区朋友热情参与。
活动主讲人张晓丽老师以“面”为笔、以“手”为刀,现场展示了一件件令人叹为观止的指尖艺术作品:雍容华贵的“国色牡丹花馍”、充满童趣的“糖果包子”、寓意吉祥的“发财面”、栩栩如生的“蝴蝶馒头”,以及气势磅礴的“龙凤呈祥”造型馒头……更令人惊喜的是,张老师还用面团创作了象征多伦多的电视塔模型,创意新颖,技艺精湛,惊艳全场!
讲到湖北传统面点“金鱼饺子”时,许多湖北老乡现场表示从未见过,纷纷感叹这一鄂菜经典竟如此巧妙别致。张老师不仅详细讲解制作技法,还亲自示范教学,手把手指导大家动手实践。参与者兴致盎然,一个个跃跃欲试,做出的作品颇具神韵,现场洋溢着浓浓的欢乐与成就感。大家品尝自己亲手制作的面点后,更是赞不绝口。
许多学员兴奋地表示:“没想到小小面团里有如此大的艺术魅力!平凡的麦面粉与水,竟能被赋予如此鲜活的生命力与壮丽!面香里蕴藏了永恒的美好,给平凡生活增添了趣味。这次不仅学到了面点技艺,还掌握了几项能在聚会中大显身手的‘绝活’,以后亲朋聚会时终于有拿得出手的本领啦!”
此次活动不仅传播了中华美食文化,也增强了校友间的互动与凝聚力,赢得了广泛好评。
On the afternoon of July 27, 2025, the Alumni of Wuhan University In Canada successfully held a unique lecture on "The Art of Chinese Noodle Crafts" in the Maple Leaf Real Estate Conference Room in Markham, Ontario, attracting nearly 30 alumni and community members.
Using dough as a brush and hands as a knife, speaker Zhang Xiaoli showcased a series of breathtaking fingertip artworks: the elegant "National Color Peony Flower Bun," the playful "Candy Baozi," the auspicious "Fortune Noodle," the lifelike "Butterfly Mantou," and the majestic "Dragon and Phoenix Mantou"... Even more surprising, Zhang also used dough to create a model of the Toronto CN Tower, a symbol of Toronto. Her innovative creativity and exquisite craftsmanship amazed the audience!
When discussing the traditional Hubei pastry "Goldfish Dumplings," many Hubei natives remarked that they had never seen them before and marveled at the ingenious and unique creations of this classic Hubei dish. Teacher Zhang not only explained the techniques in detail but also personally demonstrated and guided everyone through hands-on practice. The participants were enthusiastic and eager to try their hand at making their own creations, each one displaying a unique charm. The atmosphere was filled with joy and a sense of accomplishment. After tasting their own pastries, everyone raved about them.
Many participants excitedly remarked, "I never imagined that a tiny dough could hold such artistic charm! How could ordinary wheat flour and water be imbued with such vibrant vitality and magnificence! The fragrance of the dough holds eternal beauty, adding joy to ordinary life. This not only taught us pastry-making skills, but we also mastered several unique skills that we can showcase at gatherings. We finally have something to show off when we gather with friends and family!"
This event not only promoted Chinese culinary culture but also strengthened interaction and cohesion among alumni, earning widespread acclaim.
The First Canadian University Senior Games: Wuhan University's Senior Athletes Shine on the Field, Topping the Medal Table
2025年7月20日,首届加拿大中国高校老年运动会上,武汉大学校友会代表队以7金5银4铜、共计16枚奖牌的优异成绩,高居田径奖牌榜首位。这群银龄健儿用汗水在异国赛场上诠释了“老有所为、奋斗不息”的武大精神。
本届赛事汇聚各地高校精英,武大校友在多个项目中全面开花——
年逾花甲的黄海校友则在银龄组大放异彩,勇夺100米短跑和跳远两金,并添铅球银牌,完美展现“运动无龄界”的风采。
最动容的一幕来自拔河比赛。男队员意外伤退之际,女校友们挺身顶替,咬牙闯入四强,书写了“巾帼不让须眉”的动人篇章。
“每一枚奖牌都凝聚着银发健儿的汗水。”武汉大学加拿大校友会会长韩明辉表示,“从青春选手到银龄健将,从个人拼搏到团队协作,大家让‘珞珈精神’在海外赛场熠熠生辉。”
On July 20, 2025, at the inaugural Canadian Chinese University Senior Universities Games, the Alumni of Wuhan University in Canada team topped the track and field medal table with an outstanding record of 7 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals, totaling 16 medals. These senior athletes exemplified the Wuhan University spirit of "active aging and relentless striving" on the international stage.
This year's games brought together elites from universities across the country, with Wuhan University alumni achieving success in multiple events. Huang Hai, an alumnus in his sixties, shone brightly in the senior category, winning gold in the 100-meter sprint and long jump, and adding a silver medal in the shot put, perfectly demonstrating the spirit of "sports without age barriers."
The most touching scene came from the tug-of-war competition. When a male teammate was unexpectedly injured and forced to withdraw, female alumni stepped forward to replace him, persevering to reach the semi-finals and writing a moving chapter of "women not inferior to men."
“Every medal embodies the hard work of our senior athletes,” said Han Minghui, president of the Wuhan University Alumni Association in Canada. “From young athletes to senior champions, from individual hard work to teamwork, everyone has made the ‘Luojia Spirit’ shine brightly on the overseas stage.”
Alumni of Wuhan University In Canada Successfully Held a Public Lecture on "FASHION DESIGN AND DRESS FREE WORKSHOP"
2025年6月22日下午,武汉大学加拿大校友会在安大略省万锦市一家地产公司会议室举办了一场主题为《衣着人生》的公益讲座活动。尽管当日酷热难耐,气温高达35℃,但讲座凭借其独特的主题,仍吸引了众多校友及社区朋友的关注,现场共有30余人参与。
本次讲座由年轻的服装设计师 Teddy Fu 及其搭档主讲。Teddy Fu 以专业的视角,深入浅出地与大家分享了他对时尚、着装与个人风格的见解。他不仅介绍了服装设计的基本理念,也结合生活实例,启发大家如何通过穿衣打扮更好地表达自我。现场气氛热烈,互动频繁,参与者踊跃提问,与两位设计师进行了深入交流。

On the afternoon of June 22, 2025, the Wuhan University Alumni Association of Canada held a public lecture themed "Life in Clothing" in a conference room at a real estate company in Markham, Ontario. Despite the scorching heat that day, with temperatures reaching 35°C, the lecture, with its unique theme, attracted considerable attention from alumni and community members, with over 30 attendees.
The lecture was presented by young fashion designer Teddy Fu and his partner. Teddy Fu shared his insights on fashion, clothing, and personal style from a professional perspective in an accessible and accessible manner. He not only introduced the fundamental concepts of fashion design but also used real-life examples to inspire participants on how to better express themselves through clothing. The atmosphere was lively and interactive, with participants actively asking questions and engaging in in-depth discussions with the two designers.
Many alumni and community members expressed their gratitude to the Wuhan University Alumni Association for its thoughtful organization of this public lecture. Such themed events not only foster connections and exchanges among alumni but also provide valuable opportunities for alumni to make new friends, learn new knowledge, and enhance their lives. The Alumni of Wuhan University in Canada recently organized its senior alumni to participate in an operatic costume exhibition, followed by dedicated rehearsals and a grand Lunar New Year theatrical performance.
From meticulous preparations in the rehearsal room to their brilliant moments on stage, the seniors adorned exquisite operatic costumes, carrying themselves with grace and capturing the essence of traditional Chinese opera with every gesture and expression. Their passion and dedication brought the beauty of operatic attire to life, earning warm applause and high praise from the audience.
The event not only showcased the profound heritage of Chinese opera culture but also allowed the silver-haired alumni to shine with renewed vitality both on and off the stage.
