Everybody is different and special in their own ways, however not everybody can always be this different self freely without feeling insecure or scared of what society might think of you. This exhibition is a way for us, Fatima and Kayden, to celebrate the people who fought - who are still fighting or preparing to fight for their freedom to be themselves unapologetically. Societial pressure can be scary and overwhelmignly heavy on your shoulders. The constant checking that you are perfectly within the boundaries society draw out for you; just enough to breathe...but not enough to truly live.
We trying to convey how you being from another country, another religion, another sexuality is what makes you so special, and there should be no shame or fear in representing what YOU want to be.
So, you're not fighting to prove yourself for someone, you're not fighting because you are in a rebellious phase.
You are FIGHTING for yourself. You are fighting for what it means to be you.
Thank you to everyone who fought before us, they turned on the light at the end of the tunnel that seemed pure darkness.
And for anyone who is still fighting or started fighting for themselves, keep going, you deserve the happiness you are trying to reach in this journey of self-discovery.
To create a powerful community of solidarity — providing hope, validation, and inspiration for individuals to confidently choose themselves, fight for their dreams, and support others in their path to self-discovery.
