Azur und Asmar wachsen gemeinsam bei der Mutter Asmars auf. Sie dient als Amme am Konigshof von Azurs Vater. Sie erzahlt ihnen Geschichten aus ihrer schonen fernen Heimat, von der Fee der Djinns, die auf ihre Befreiung wartet. Wie Bruder wachsen die beiden auf und verbringen gemeinsam ihre Kindheit. Aber als Asmar alt genug ist, wird er vom geliebten Bruder und seiner Ziehmutter getrennt. Erst als Erwachsene sehen sich die jungen Manner wieder und treten nun als Rivalen gegeneinander an. Beide wollen sie die verwunschene Fee, von der sie in ihrer Kindheit so viel horten, retten. Doch je schwieriger sich ihre Abenteuer auf dem Weg dorthin gestalten desto starker stellt sich ihre fruhere Verbundenheit wieder ein und sie finden wieder zueinander.
