Conditioner Hike: Putrid Pete's Peak | June 11th, 2020
Length: 7.52 miles, roundtrip
Gain: 3,440 ft
Highest point: 4,823 ft
Notes:
Meant to do Putrid Pete's Peak. Got a little sidetracked unfortunately when I realized I was going the wrong direction and missed the tiniest side trail by like a mile or whatever. Thanks GAIA.
Got close to the summit but decided to turn around due to timing, hiking solo and wanting to have some sunlight when traveling down on what were pretty rotten trail conditions. Made a great call and still had some light by the time I got to my car. Got more elevation gain and distance then what I was anticipating which I guess is a win in terms of conditioners.
Totally would do this again at an earlier time and make it a traverse with Web and Defiance peaks.

TRAINING
I followed the Hal Hidgon's Novice 2 Half Marathon training schedule to maintain fitness and health for when climbing restrictions ease up. I typically run Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and do a longer run on Saturdays. My main focus has been improving endurance for long distance travel. PR is not something I focus on due to ongoing IT band inflammation (typically only brought on by running) so I typically maintain a consistent slower pace. I have also been doing core and strength training workouts three times a week and have also done long distance road cycling along with running.

Peak #9 for 2019
I led a group of four (including myself) up to the summit of Mt. St. Helens. This was my second time up to the crater rim. We had some intermittent clouds but overall it was filled with gorgeous views. Going up this time around was a surreal experience as Mt. St. Helens was the first peak to get me into mountaineering two years ago (2017). I was a very different person then and it's cool to reflect on how much stronger I am now as a climber!

Gain: 6,412 ft
Highest Point: 12,140 ft
Notes:
Also known as Mt. Rainier.
I climbed Mt. Rainier's Disappointment Cleaver route with Rainier Mountaineering, Inc. (RMI). For the first day, we travelled from Paradise to Camp Muir in white out conditions. We saw up to a foot and a half of snowfall on the way up.
The evening cleared to reveal stars. We woke up at 1:30AM on day 2 to start our final ascent. We reach Disappointment Cleaver at 12,140 feet above sea level and decided to turn around due to winds above 40 mph and high avalanche risk. We didn't reach the summit, but got to witness awesome sights. This trip tested my physical limits in extreme weather which was exciting.

The Tooth Alpine Rock Mountaineering Trip | May 29th, 2019
Length: ~6+ miles, roundtrip
Gain: 2,600 ft
Highest Point: 5,604 ft
Notes:
Peak #4 for 2019
I did an evening ascent of the South face of the Tooth with two friends. The Tooth is a fin-like andesite pillar located in the Cascade Range. It is considered a classic alpine climb in the Pacific Northwest.
We started from the Alpental parking lot after 5PM. There were spring conditions including snow travel, some sketchy snow bridges over creeks, moats, and plenty of postholing. Fortunately, the summit block rock was very nice and dry. The final climb to the summit involved 4 pitches rated between 5.3 to 5.7. I led the second pitch.
We reached the summit around 10PM. Getting down was a lot of fun as we did five rappels, including a 60m rappel from the top of Pineapple Pass. Overall this trip was a blast and I'm glad I did it!
