WGC 2025 Donations to BV Animal Shelter and Courtesy Van
At our annual meeting, the membership elected to again split our year-end donations between the Bella Vista Animal Shelter and the Courtesy Van. New President and Vice President Laurie Schoenbaum and Stephanie Kappel delivered $1,000 each to these organizations above.
Congratulations to the following people who received either a birdie or an eagle for the first time in WGC:

Congratulations to Nancy O'Dell, who got a hole-in-one on #14 at BVCC from 100 yards using a 9 iron. She was playing her scratch match game with Stevie Lamar, Brenda Alexander, and Brenda Dandy. That's our third WGC hole in one this year! 👏
9/25/25 - Amy Read Gets Hole-In-One
Congratulations to Amy Read, who got a hole-in-one on Thursday 9/25 during our regular match at Scotsdale. On hole #4, she teed off using a Ping Gmax 9 iron and a Callaway ERC soft golf ball, and after a couple bounces it rolled into the hole! Needless to say, she won the closest to the pin from the red tees. Her playing partner was Mary Gillespie, along with Pam Jakosa and Jean Meadows. Drinks all around!
On Tuesday, July 1st on BVCC hole #2, Wanda Barton got a Hole in One! She was playing with Lisa Vines, Linda Roberts and Nancy O'Dell. Congratulations Wanda! See additional photo with her playing partners here.
Congratulations to Gold MPM Champs!
The WGC wishes to congratulate the champions for the Match Play Madness Gold Tournament which was determined today on Kingswood. Mary Gillespie and Marilyn Fabits won 2 + 1 in a hard- fought match. The winners were up by 2 holes coming to the 17th hole. The second-place team of Peggy Barron and Darla Luzum battled all the way but the 17th was parred by all.
Match Play Madness Red Tee Champs
Playoff Match - Wolters/Barloon win 6 up and 5 vs. Vines/Shy. According to the scorecard, the match started out pretty straightforward. Robyn won hole #1, Nancy won hole #2. From there, Wolters/Barloon won 6 more holes on the front nine. Trying to make a comeback, Vines/Shy won holes #9 and #10. But it wasn't enough to beat the momentum of Wolters/Barloon, who won two more holes on the back to end the match 6 up with 5 to go. Congratulations ladies!
Congratulations to our 2025 WGC Club Champions!

Our annual Firecracker event was held on Thursday, June 26 at Kingswood Golf course. A luncheon after the round was provided by Arvest Bank, followed by prizes and a short business meeting. It was a beautiful day, and a great time!
See photos of the event here.
The 2025 WGC Member Friend event was played on May 15 at Dogwood Golf Course, followed by a catered lunch sponsored by Darrin Hewitt from Edward Jones and BV Wine & Spirits at the Metfield Pavilion. The format was a 2-person scramble match play event. We had a great turnout and perfect weather this year! See all the pics here!
The Bowlin Cup is a 3 day handicapped event with a format similar to the Solheim Cup. This event was established in 2011 by Biddy Pyle, Sue Jacobson and Marianne Smyth. They wanted the event to highlight Women’s golf in Bella Vista and specifically honoring Dolores as she is one of the remaining founders of the Women’s Golf League.
With 32 players registered this year, there were 4 teams of 8 formed by handicap (keeping teams as close to each other in total handicap). Day 1 and 2 are match play events with pairs from each team competing. Day 3 is singles match play with 8 total points up for grabs.
This year, it looked like the Bowlin Bruiser’s were full steam ahead after day one. But the Fire Ballers consistent play each day pulled them ahead by 1 at the end with total 9 points. That left the Bowlin Bruiser’s and Birdie Bunch tied at 8 points for 2nd and Shots R Us just missing the money by 1 point with a total of 7. The matches were played hard and well matched play by all, as the points clearly show! Great Job Ladies!
