I'm writing this entry 2 months (June 4th) after I visited the point.
The weather on April 5th was absolutely beautiful - the first really nice day of the spring. This was the first time that I had visited the Crow Hills area despite having lived in Westminster for 13 years and I wasn't disappointed. The trails are wide and very well maintained. Unfortunately I wasn't here to walk the trails, but to bushwhack my way to the point (I'm not sure if it's still called bushwhacking if you're using your arms and legs to do the whacking).
In any event, I wore a short sleeved shirt and shorts figuring that there would be no bugs or ticks at this early date. I was right about the bugs and wrong about the ticks. I found one crawling across me the next morning and one that had burrowed in for a meal. I pretty much decided to give bushwhacking a rest until the fall.
The starting point, which is in Princeton.
We had recently had a lot of heavy rain.
As always... water to cross.
This picture doesn't show it very well, but I had just climbed up a little over a hundred feet and am looking down. I am standing in Westminster, but the bottom of the hill is in Princeton.
Stone walls even up at a decent elevation.
The confluence point! Luckily I didn't have to walk too far in the "under"growth that was taller than me.
The next 10 pictures were taken from the confluence point turning clockwise.
Heading back. The stream is down there, but barely visible in this picture.
Fallen trees where I was crossing the stream.
