This confluence turned out to be relatively easy since a fire road took us very close to the confluence point. We started by walking straight up one of the slopes. The sun was starting to get low and we were hoping that we'd find the point before dark. As we were walking up the slope, a guy hiking down with 2 dogs said (I thought) that it was 1500 feet to the fire road - it turned out to be more like 150 feet. Thinking back, I think he was saying it was 1500 feet to the summit, since we hadn't made it clear exactly where we were going - I really didn't feel like attempting to explain the whole project. In any event, the fire road took us very close to the point. We then did "the confluence dance" walking sort of in circles and at one point ending up back on the fire trail. My intrepid co-explorers were feeling less and less intrepid at this point. Shortly after, we managed to get very close to the point, but then spent another 5 minutes or so getting EXACTLY to the point.
On the way up (looking back)
On the way up and hoping we're not starting this too late in the day (3:30 on Nov. 7th)
Turning off of the slope we have a fire road that will lead us (almost) all the way to the point.
My intrepid co-explorers, Kassandra Field and Larissa Couture.
Up the fire road we go. This one is about as easy as they get.
Tree hugger.
After quite a bit of wandering around in the woods, we finally arrive at the point. We also spent 5 or 10 minutes to get all zeroes. You'll have to take my word on it that those are all zeroes :-)
Looking around from the confluence point.
Yikes!
An escaping explorer?
Victorious!
Going back home in the nick of time.
Alex was here.
Waterfall on the way back.
Snow gun just waiting for the cold.
