2024 WCHS Wind Ensemble
Congrats to the West Cabarrus Wind Ensemble on a fantastic performance on a very challenging program at MPA (Music Performance Assessment). I'm so proud of you all for taking on the challenge of preparing and performing a grade 5 program and making great music on stage to earn an overall Excellent rating with a Superior in Sightreading. It's been a semester of growth and great music and that didn't all happen jsut this semester. It has been a year long project of musical growth for you all. Congratulations!

All students either received the form above on the last day of class in 1st semester, or will receive it on the first day of class in 2nd semester.
After School help sessions will be the following days from 2:15pm - 3:00pm in the band room:
Jan 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

Winter Concert - Thursday, Dec. 7th - 7:00pm
Remember to wear concert black as outlined in your syllabus (Syllabus is posted on this page). Be in the band room ready to warm up at 6:15pm. Remember to have music, instrument, locker key, etc. all ready to go when you arrive and that you are ready to warm up in the band room at 6:15pm. The concert will begin at 7:00pm. Please remember this is a double test grade and there is no make up assignment if you don't show up to perform on the concert. The concert starts at 7:00pm and should last for approximately 1 hour.
Students should enter the school through the double gray doors on the band room (D4) on the bus lot side of the school.
Concert goers should enter the school through the front doors of the school. Auditorium doors will open at approximately 6:45pm.
Students need to have transportation home immediately after the concert is finished.

Concert Schedule for 23/24 Concert Season
All performances are double test grades
Wind Ensemble
Wind Ensemble had a great season in 2022-2023. We performed First Suite in E flat by Gustav Holst on our fall concert, performed in the concert band invitational at Catawba College, preMPA Concert at Hickory Ridge High School, MPA (Music Performance Assessment) at Mooresville High School (a trip to Cici's pizza with an intense game of air hockey is how we celebrated!), and gave a fantastic spring concert in May as well as performing at graduation. The Wind Ensemble works hard to focus on technique, tone quality, and musicality as we perform in concert settings. We were proud to perform about 45 minutes of prelude music for graduation as well as Pomp and Circumstance, Recessional, and a chamber group from wind ensemble performed the West Cabarrus Alma Mater with the chorus. In order to be a part of the wind ensemble, you must be registered for a band class.

Gia was selected by audition to perform with the Symphonic Band at Carneige Hall, one of the most prestigious concert halls in the world! Congratulations, Gia! We are so proud of you!
Congratulations to Alex Le - Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall!
February 2nd-5th, Alex Le was in New York City as part of the High School Honors Performance Series Band. He auditioned and was selected after putting in many hours of practice and hard work. He had the opportunity to perform on the World's most prestigious stage. We are so proud of you, Alex! Congratulations! Alex is a member of percussion class, West Cabarrus Marching Wolverines, and has been a member of jazz band.
