Pun intended! Please see the remaining rehearsal schedule for Fall 2025.
On May 11th, the West Cabarrus High School Wolverine Jazz Band attended their first ever jazz band MPA and earned an overall superior rating for their performance of Chameleon, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and Mambo Swing. Thanks to Mr. Lowe for supporting and encouraging us to go to jazz MPA this year for the first time ever.
The West Cabarrus Jazz Band performed music to set the mood for the spring musical, The Wizard of Oz as well as performing music as people entered the auditorium for the WCHS awards ceremony on May 14th. We even adjusted our concert dress so we could sport our ruby slippers for the Wizard of Oz. Thanks for all of your hard work this season, jazz band!
Please note that April 5th and 6th, attire for the performances will be concert black with red shoes if you have them. If you don't have red shoes, you may wear black shoes just like you would for concert black. Jazz Band will play from 6-7 as people are entering the auditorium and will also play at the 15 minute intermission (approx 8:00pm). We will watch the play during the times we aren't playing. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Please note that May 2nd is the spring concert and attire will be concert black.
We will discuss Jazz Band MPA. I haven't signed us up yet, but wanted to put it on the calendar so I could see if you have the date available.
This semester we welcomed Mr. Jerry Lowe to work with our jazz band, help to teach the finer points of improvization, and help us to develop our style and jazz ensemble playing. We are so excited to have you on board, Mr. Lowe!
Remember to wear concert black as outlined in your syllabus (Syllabus is posted on this page). Be in the band room ready to warm up at 6:15pm. Remember to have music, instrument, locker key, etc. all ready to go when you arrive and that you are ready to warm up in the band room at 6:15pm. The concert will begin at 7:00pm. Please remember this is a double test grade and there is no make up assignment if you don't show up to perform on the concert. The concert starts at 7:00pm and should last for approximately 1 hour.
Students should enter the school through the double gray doors on the band room (D4) on the bus lot side of the school.
Concert goers should enter the school through the front doors of the school. Auditorium doors will open at approximately 6:45pm.
Students need to have transportation home immediately after the concert is finished.
Thank you for your dedication and responsibility to make this concert and the concert day in general awesome!

Stop by the band room if you are interested. This is a standard swing band that includes saxophones, trombones, trumpets, and a rhythm section (guitar, bass, piano, drums). Hope to see you there.
