If you cannot attend practice, I must be notified through email or Remind by a parent. Student messages will not be accepted and absences will be unexcused. This puts you at risk of not being able to swim in the first meet after break.

The preseason meeting for all athletes interested in joining this year's swimming team will be held after school at 2pm on October 17, 2025 in room 31. Athletes and managers of all grade levels should attend. Practice begins on Monday, November 17, 2025.

All-Sports Banquet
All-Sports Banquet
At the All Sports Banquet on June 11, 2024, senior Abby Simko received the WDHS Sportsmanship Award in recognition of her contribution to the soccer, swimming, and lacrosse teams at WDHS. Also, the entire swimming team was awarded the Top Team GPA Award for having the highest GPA of all of the athletic teams for the 2023-2024 school year. Swimmers present to accept the award were Riley Walsh, Abby Simko, Katelyn Lee and Reagan Hill.

At the All Sports Banquet on June 13, 2023, senior April Avila received the WDHS Sportsmanship Award in recognition of her stellar four-year career as one of the best swimmers to ever come through West Deptford High School. Earlier, in March, at the SJISA Awards Banquet, she was also named to the 3rd Team All South Jersey Swim Team for the 100 breaststroke and won the Bill Maschke Scholar Athlete Award. Other seniors who were recognized at the All Sports Banquet included Emma Harverson, Ariana Roesly, Cooper Eastlack, Mike Monte Carlo, Tyler McAleer, Marisa Parisi, Jesse Scarborough, and Andrew Bergin. Congratulations to all of them!

Congratulations April Avila for finishing 5th in the 100 breaststroke and 19th in the 50 free at the New Jersey State Swimming Championship.
End-of Season Dinner
End-of Season Dinner
End of Season Team Dinner will be held at 6pm after our final dual meet on Feb. 1, 2023. More information about signups etc. has been sent through email. Check parent and athlete emails. Note: This is not the official banquet. That will be held in March.
Team photos will be taken at practice on Jan. 18, 2022. Plan to be on time to practice that day and wear your team suit to practice that day!!

First day of practice is Nov. 21. There will be NO bus transportation to practice on the 21-23 due to half days. You will need to get to Riverwinds on your own and be on deck by 2:15.

On March 28, 2022, at the SJISA Awards Banquet, April Avila, Henry Poblete and Coach Lancaster Avila were all honored for their accomplishments as members of the South Jersey Interscholastic Swimming Association. April was named to the 1st Team All South Jersey Swim Team for the 100 breaststroke. Henry won both the Bill Maschke Scholar Athlete Award and the Bert German Service Award. Coach Lancaster Avila was awarded a gold watch in recognition of her 21 years of coaching in South Jersey.

Another star-studded performance by April Avila took place on March 5, 2022 at the NJSIAA State Championships where she took fourth place in the 100 breaststroke. April's time of 1:03.81 solidified her place in WDHS's swimming history books, destroying her previous record by just under two seconds!!

Sophomore April Avila Breaks Record Again!
Congratulations to April for breaking the 100 breaststroke record for the second time this season. She posted a record-breaking time of 1:06.16 at the final meet of the season on March 25, 2021.

On March 2, 2021 at our virtual meet against Audubon/Collingswood held at Riverwinds, April put on an amazing performance by being the first person in 27 years to break the 100 yard breaststroke record. The previous record was set in 1994 by her mother (and now her coach), Juliet Lancaster Avila. We could not be prouder!!!
