Carnitas/Pulled Pork
Did you know that a pork butt is actually part of a pig’s shoulder?
This crock pot recipe is great for a crowd. You could also use an InstaPot!
Ingredients
3-5 pound pork butt or shoulder roast. Sometimes called a picnic roast.
1 large yellow or white onion, quartered
5-6 cloves of garlic, roughly chopped
Optional: 1-2 Jalapeno peppers, sliced into quarters. Spice level will be higher if you leave the seeds in. Otherwise, remove seeds.
2 Tbsp. Cumin
2 Tbsp. Chili powder
1 Tbsp Onion powder
1 Tbsp Garlic salt
1 Tbsp pepper
Directions
Rub pork with the spices. Place in crock pot.
Place onions, garlic, and optional peppers around the roast. Sprinkle with any remaining spices.
Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours, or until meat is falling apart.
