There was this one-frame comic strip, which pictured teenagers sitting at the breakfast table with their hands deep into those round cereal cartons. On that carton was that typical old white-haired person wearing a flat hat dressed in black. The caption read, “young Quaker feeling their oats.”

A Quaker farmer had just started milking when the cow raised its leg kicking the farmer and knocking over the pail of milk. The farmer replied Friend cow thee knows I will not hurt thee, let us get the milking done.

A worthy concern was raised at a Monthly Meeting for Business that was beyond what the coffers would allow. However, the Meeting was so moved by the concern that they sent out an interim collectors letter. In the letter, they urged members to give until it hurts. At the next Monthly Meeting for Business, the concern was raised again and they asked whether there were now sufficient funds. The collector responded,

Some felt that in merely listening to seminars they were not getting to know each other and exchange ideas. Instead, they decided to rent a rowboat after lunch and spend time together, sharing thoughts while they fished out on the lake.

The Priest turned to the side of the boat, kneeled, made the sign of the cross, said something in Latin, and then step out of the boat, walked across the water, did his business, walked back across the water, sat down, and continued to fish. The Evangelical Pastor feeling the same urge turned toward the side of the boat raised her arms and began praising God so much that it caused the boat to roll violently from side to side. Like the Priest, she then walked ashore and came back.

The Quaker not knowing how to swim was flailing his arms and gave a quiet-loud vocal ministry. The Priest and the Pastor were trying to pull him back into the boat when one turned to the other and asked; should we tell him where the rocks are?
