PURPOSE: The materials in this OER are designed to meet the needs of students in a timely and flexible way. Users are encouraged to select topics of interest and adapt them to their own students' skill levels and the local job market. However, there is a course outcome guide that outlines one possible course plan.
AUDIENCE: Instructors of English language learners in a welding career pathway are likely users. Their students are concurrently building skills in welding classes with an immediate goal to pursue employment as a welder.
CONTENT: The materials in this OER are grouped thematically, under four headings: Introduction to Welding, Structural Work, Career Development and Digital Literacy. All topics maintain the welding theme and spiral vocabulary students will hear and use in the welding shop. Each theme is expanded below. A packet of students handouts is now available here.
