I am also going to scan my slides and negs - but buying a scanner (I don't intend to photo them with a digital camera) is another story...I don't see why I can't project and digitise The Newish Pluscan 135i looks right for me - a good combination of quality with speed as there are many to scan.

You only need at most two trays (50 slides) or two carousels (100 slides) - one being scanned while the second is loaded or unloaded. You would of course have to transfer your slides from wherever they are now to the trays, and back again after scanning, but you would probably benefit from handling each slide at least once to dust it anyway.

That's what I did when I scanned about 8000 slides some years back. I used an earlier version of the Reflecta series, but with a different brand name (Pacific Image PowerSlide 5000). I bought the scanner on eBay and re-sold it at a profit after the project. Part of the expense was a license for VueScan because the software supplied with the scanner is poor.

Did you consider a digital projector? I dont know what you'd pay for a used slide projector today, but I assume it's less than a digital one. On the other hand, with a digital one you can project any type of film as long as it's scanned. A digital projector wont give you the same resolution, but even fairly reasonable ones give pretty good IQ.

I haven't used my slide projector for at least 10 years and will probably end up just throwing it away. Not trying to discourage you from getting one, but it seems like everyone have giant TVs now and fro me it's much easier to display images there than setting up a slide show.

I'm not sure what you are looking for - a slide projector or a digital projector? If your images are in 35mm slides you will need to scan them into a digital file to project them in a digital projector. Digital projectors are common and plentiful in various levels of performance and costs. An easy search will locate many.
