Funded M.S. in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering (OSHE) 

The MS in OSHE plan of study is structured for educating engineers and scientists in the specialty of occupational safety and health engineering. This Newark College of Engineering program is supported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Full-time students in this program on the Thesis track are eligible for a NIOSH Fellowship, covering the tuition and providing a stipend. Graduates of the program have several career options in managerial and technical roles. Our alumni are working in companies including Tesla, Amazon, GE Energy, 3M Healthcare, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and institutes of higher education.

Ph.D. position openings 

Assistant Professor, Dr. Wei Yin, within the School of Applied Engineering and Technology (SAET) and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is actively looking for Ph.D. students who want to pursue a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Biomechanics. Dr. Yin's research centers on human motion simulation, wearables, and robotics. The doctoral students will work on multiple Biomechanics research projects related to digital human modeling, exoskeletons, reinforcement learning, rehabilitation engineering, and human-robot collaboration. This position is fully funded, covering tuition and a competitive stipend ($46,000 per year). 

Position requirements:

• • A recent bachelor's or master's degree (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related engineering disciplines

  • Prior experience in human motion analysis and machine learning is preferred

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
