General Information
I am interested in how instructors can leverage students' innate spatial reasoning to enhance mathematical conceptualization, and how to improve learning mathematics by focusing on principles of reasoning and language building rather than the presentation of topics. My courses follow a principle-based rather than a topic-oriented approach.
My research and scholarly activities in mathematics education involve the development of these teaching tools: spatial thinking tasks that improve mathematical conceptualization; linguistic and algorithmic strategies that support principle-based reasoning; worksheet creation to promote higher level thinking, learning across disciplines, and student autonomy; and AI tools to personalize student learning.
