Step One- Digital Access
Equal access to online resources and other technological tools is known as "digital access." I want to give every student equal access to technology in the classroom because, as a teacher, I understand that only some have it at home. To address this problem, our district has provided iPads to every student for use in the classroom. It is anticipated that my students will use these iPads for appropriate educational purposes at home and school. My expectations for my students and their families will be made more apparent with the aid of these Digital Citizenship resources.
Step Two- Digital Commerce
Digital commerce includes the electronic purchase and sale of goods and services, as well as safeguards for those who engage in these transactions. We acknowledge that our students are still young enough to make online purchases and sales. But as they advance through the grades, they will discover how these economic applications of technology can help them prepare for their careers and engage in society, thereby improving their future.
Step Three- Digital Communication and Collaboration
Digital communication and collaboration refer to the process of connecting individuals via technology. With the help of technology, we can learn and share information about nearly anything and discover new ways to express ourselves. Using their iPads, my students will learn how to collaborate to achieve a common objective. Additionally, they will learn about the various ways technology can be used to communicate with others.
Step Four- Digital Etiquette
Being mindful of and considerate when utilizing technology is known as the digital etiquette of others when te. Technology has the power to elevate or denigrate people. I want to teach my students how to use their iPads to engage with their peers constructively. When they are not using technology, they should treat people with kindness.
Step Five- Digital Fluency
Digital fluency entails being aware of the various applications of technology. Our likelihood of using technology wisely increases with our level of knowledge. It also assists us in distinguishing between what is harmful and false and what is beneficial and true. My goal is for my students to become more proficient in iPad use over the course of the year.
Step Six- Digital Health and Welfare
The effects of technology on our physical and mental well-being are referred to as digital health and welfare. They include screen time, content, and the emotional effects it has on both us and others. In addition to providing my students with plenty of opportunities to learn on their iPads, I also want to give them traditional learning opportunities to help them build and nurture their social skills by interacting with one another in person.
Step Seven- Digital Law
Regulation of internet use is a component of digital law. We must abide by rules and policies when using the internet, just as we must comply with laws. These protect us from danger and hold us accountable for our deeds. I will establish a kind of digital law to protect every student because, as a teacher, I will not put up with bullying or cyberbullying of any kind.
Step Eight- Digital Rights and Responsibility
Everyone's freedoms in the online world are part of digital rights and responsibilities. These liberties do not shield us from the repercussions that could arise directly from using them. As we learn about technology, my top priorities are to teach my students to advocate for others, take responsibility for their actions, and use the iPads responsibly.
Step Nine- Digital Security and Privacy
Digital security and privacy include being cautious when using the internet and protecting personal data. Viruses, for example, can infiltrate our devices and take our data, including someone to address, and access our private lives. To keep my students safe, I will stress safe internet practices, such as not chatting with strangers, not sharing passwords with friends, and not disclosing personal information online.
