Similar to owning a toy and deciding who can play with it, copyright refers to an individual's unique right when creating something, such as a story, song, or drawing, to control who can copy or share it. A unique rule known as "fair use" permits you to use a small portion of someone else's creative work for educational purposes or to exchange ideas, such as quoting a passage from a book in a school project, provided that you give due credit to the author and refrain from excessive copying.
Plagiarism occurs when you steal someone else's ideas. Then, they claim it was their idea. This will not be acceptable in my classroom.
