Mission Stage 2:

Commercial Writing

Today your mission is to write the script for your region’s commercial. You will be using the information you researched in Mission Stage 1 to complete the script. Make sure that you include all of the interesting things that you found in order to convince NEBA to bring the Martians to your region.

The Script Writer will be typing the script although the entire team should be helping. You need to include at least 2 things from each of the 7 sections below. Please remember to use your own words when writing the script!!!

  4. Landforms and Bodies of Water
  5. Resources
  6. History
  7. Tourist Attractions

You also need to type your Works Cited list which will be held up as part of the credits for your commercial, examples of this are below.

Open your Google Classroom click on the Assignment labeled Script Checklist. You can type the script there.

Designer Instructions

Open a safari window and go to Pixabay.com. All of the images on this website are available for our use. Search for a picture that represents your region. Once you find one, copy and paste the link of your image into the Google Form here.

Script Example:

  • James: Welcome to the great North East region of the United States!
  • Anna: There are 11 states in our region including New Hampshire and Vermont.
  • Oliver: Four different seasons in the North East region makes it great to visit at any time of the year. A lot of snow can fall in the winter but then you can do all of the winter sports.
  • Grace: There are a lot of technology companies in the North East to visit but there is also some farming.
  • William: Bears and moose both live in the North East region. While moose are pretty easy to find in some places bears are much harder to see.
  • Anna: The Pilgrims and Puritans first came to Massachusetts in the 1600's. Also the Boston Tea Party happened in the North East region and this started the Revolutionary War when America became a new country.
  • Grace: There are lots of different mountains to climb up or ski down in the North East region. Also there are lots of lakes to swim in like Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.
  • Oliver: You can visit Santa's Village or hike the Appalachian trail in the North East. You can also visit the Statue of Liberty or see the U.S. capital in the North East.
  • James: The North East region is a great place to visit. Come and have fun with us!

Works Cited for Grade 3

1. Follow the punctuation in the examples exactly.

2. Be sure to put the author's last name before the first name, with the two names separated by a comma.

3. If you look up information about a person in an encyclopedia, that person's name should also be written last name first.

4. If you cannot find some information, such as author, just leave it out.

For a book:

1. Author's name, last name first.

2. Title of book, italicized.

3. Copyright date.

Example:

Landau, Elaine. Sea Horses. 1999.

For an article from the World Wide Web:

1. Name of the author, if you can find it, last name first.

2. Title of the article, in quotes.

3. Title of the home page, if available, italicized. Web.

4. Date you visited (see the examples).
