We Are Artistic is based in Washington DC. Our fiscal sponsor Hack Club is based in West Hollywood, CA.
What is We Are Artistic?
We Are Artistic is a creative collective that welcomes individuals of all abilities who want to express themselves through media, thought, and presentation. We connect artists through community events, virtual programs, and collaborative spaces.
Is We Are Artistic inclusive
Absolutely. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming space for people of all abilities, identities, and creative styles.
Is We Are Artistic a 501(c)(3)?
Yes! We Are Artistic is fiscally sponsored by Hack Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our registered EIN is 81-2908499.
Do I have to live in DC to be apart of We Are Artistic?
No! Anyone from anywhere in the world is welcome to sign up as a virtual volunteer. However, you must live in the DMV area if you’d like to volunteer at our in‑person events.
I applied for a leadership role when will I hear back?
We interview everyone who applies, because you’re more than just a résumé or an application to us. Based on the volume of applicants, our team typically reaches out within 24 hours to 2 days to schedule an interview.
I applied for a leadership role, am I more likely to get if I know a director.
We don’t make decisions based on who someone knows. We look at experience, reliability, and whether we think they’d be a strong fit for the role.
Can you help me pick a department?
You betcha! Give us a few examples of what you're good at so we can match you with the department that best suits you.
Where can I see your financials?
Here: https://hcb.hackclub.com/we-are-artistic.
I donated in kind. Can I get an in-kind donation receipt?
Yes, of course! Email us at weareartisticgroup@gmail.com and we will get that right over to you.
Can we get community service hours for volunteering?
Submit everything you do using our Community Service Log:
Once your submission is reviewed, you will receive an email from our Community Service Leads.
They will then ask you to either:
Upload your school’s PDF form, or
Enter your hours into your school’s online system.
If your school does not use any formal system, we will gladly write you an official letter confirming your hours.
Please be patient with our Community Service Leads, they review each submission carefully to make sure everything is accurate and properly documented for your district.
Are you an MCPS SSL certified org?
Yes, we are! We’re happy to sign any MCPS SSL forms. Please note that we can only approve SSL hours for opportunities that are officially listed on the Montgomery County Volunteer Center site and SSL approved.
Are you guys able to give out PSVA awards:
Yes, we are! However, at this time no organizations are able to award PSVA awards. There is currently no timeline for when they will resume. Once awarding opens again, as long as you have completed the minimum required hours for your age group and provided proof, we will be able to issue one for you.
Do you guys accept corporate volunteers!
Yes! Corporate teams are welcome to volunteer at any of our in‑person events. We simply ask that your group register in advance so we can prepare appropriately and ensure a smooth experience for everyone. We currently do not have any virtual volunteering open for corporate teams.
Can I be a background adult?
We are no longer running that program due to past issues. However, you’re absolutely welcome to volunteer if you’d still like to be involved. Thank you for your understanding and interest in supporting our work. If you are a parent or teacher I recommend becoming a parent and teacher liaison.
Can I volunteer even if I’m not looking to earn service hours?
Yes, of course! We welcome all ages in person and virtually.
Would you be able to nominate me for an award?
Thank you for thinking of us. We don’t nominate individuals by request. When we submit nominations, it’s because we’ve directly seen long‑term impact, consistency, and community leadership.
If you’re interested in being considered in the future, keep showing up, contributing, and building that impact — that’s what we look for
Are you able to mail my community service form?
Due to high demand, we are not able to mail physical copies of forms to virtual volunteers. All forms will be sent digitally to the email you provide. You are responsible for printing, completing, and submitting your form. Please note that we are not responsible for lost, deleted, or misplaced forms.
Can I get extra hours?
We do not award extra hours beyond the hours you have completed. Only documented and verified hours will be counted.
Do minors need a parent or guardian
Minors under 13 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all We Are Artistic events.
Minors ages 13–17 may attend events without a parent or guardian present, unless otherwise stated.
Any minor under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a media release form to participate in 24 Frames for Change or any activity involving photography, video, or recorded media.
Can I donate?
Yes, of course! Visit this page for more info: Donate. We appreciate any and all donations. For any in kind donations, we are more than happy to provide an in kind donation receipt.
Why don't you partner with nonprofits that are resume fillers or college applications?
We love working with youth-led groups when they’re rooted in real community impact. Some organizations are created mainly for college applications, and they often don’t have the structure or follow‑through our families rely on.
Because our work involves kids, caregivers, and long-term relationships, we partner only with nonprofits that demonstrate steady leadership and consistent programming.
Can I host a fundraiser for your nonprofit
Of course, contact us at weareartisticgroup@gmail.com for more info.
