WCUCOM supports faculty engagement in scholarly activity across a broad range of basic science, clinical, educational, epidemiologic, population health, and interdisciplinary research. Faculty are encouraged to develop independent and collaborative projects, engage students and residents in scholarship when appropriate, and pursue opportunities that contribute to the advancement of medical education, clinical care, and population health.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs provides support for faculty scholarship through consultation on study design, methodology, data analysis, project development, dissemination, and identification of potential collaborators. WCUCOM also provides limited seed funding for faculty-initiated pilot projects through the internal budget of the Associate Dean of Research. Substantial funding requests may be reviewed with input from the Research Committee.
Requests for additional research-related support, including publication charges, acquisition of datasets, external consultation, or other project expenses, should be submitted to the Associate Dean of Research well in advance of the anticipated need. All proposals for external grant funding must follow applicable William Carey University procedures.
Important: Research-related expenditures made without prior approval are not guaranteed reimbursement.
WCUCOM strongly encourages collaborative, interdisciplinary, and interprofessional scholarship. Faculty interested in identifying potential collaborators are encouraged to review the Faculty Research Interests page, which highlights areas of expertise and scholarly interest across the college.
