We are planning a Workshop for 2024 Q1!
Date: March 24, 2016
Venue: Dogus University, Acibadem, Istanbul, TURKEY
The importance of seamless transportation systems and the availability of advanced transport services is imperative in this era of global supply chains that is characterised by increased value chain disaggregation across geographical space. The focus is therefore moving towards the assessment of the broader logistics and supply chain systems that embed and are closely related to the traditional transportation systems. However existing assessment methodologies are inadequate in today’s high complexity global supply chain environment where logistics costs remain uncertain for business decision makers.
The objective of this workshop is to bring together academic and industry experts, policy makers and other special interest agencies like investment promotion agencies (IPAs) in order to train and test a new type of assessment tool based on machine learning techniques and computational methods. First the multi-label text classification tool will be presented to the stakeholders following which they will participate by classifying a training set of assessments. The classifications will allow stakeholders to assess the complexity and sentiment of expert opinions of country logistics systems.
Stakeholders will not only get acquainted to a new methodology for country logistics assessment, but will also get to know how complexity around national logistics systems is currently being framed by users and industry associations. This will aid in reducing the information asymmetry in foreign direct investment attraction, and in resource allocation and investment decisions for the development of logistics systems.
