BIOGRAPHY
Professor Emeritus Dr Aminah is the former Vice Chancellor of Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) (2007-2011). Prior to this, she was the Deputy VC for Academic and International Affairs (2005-2007) at the same university.
She obtained her PhD in Science Education from the University of Keele in the United Kingdom in 1990 in Science Education and Cognitive Development. Before coming to UPSI, Professor Aminah was Dean of the School of Educational Studies, University Science Malaysia (USM), in Penang. She was also a visiting professor at the Nagoya University Japan.
While at UPSI, she led a team of experts in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Malaysia to develop a national curriculum for the early years called PERMATA Negara Curriculum and the training modules for the ECEC professionals (2006-2008). With the Cabinet’s approval, the curriculum is now made a national ECCE curriculum. She was appointed the Chairman of the Technical Committee for PERMATA Curriculum Development and Research (2008-2018); Deputy Chairperson to PERMATA-Q Quality Assurance Committee (2013-2018) and later she become a consultant and trainer for STEM, STEAM and STREAM Education for various agencies and ministries, such as the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KWKPK), Ministry of Rural Development for KEMAS, and KWKPK Sarawak. In 2017 until now she was appointed Board Member representing Malaysia in the Child Research Network Asia (CRNA) based in Tokyo Japan. Currently, she is involved in the Research Ethics Committee at UPSI.
