NRA High Power Rifle - The most popular form of organized rifle-only competitive shooting in the United States is NRA High Power Competition. High Power Competition encompasses primarily Service Rifle and Match Rifle, with the lesser sub-discipline of Sporting Rifle. The predominant American-style "High Power" match is a multi-position, multi-distance event that evolved from the U.S. Military's course of fire for rifle qualification. Sporter High Power: A match typically fired at 100 yards with "traditional" hunting type centerfire rifles from standing, kneeling and prone positions with slow and rapid strings of fire. 4-H modifies NRA match rules to suit young shooters.
