Mega Meetups FAQs
What are Mega Meetups?
A yearly event planned and organized by Waze for the Map Editor, Beta, and Localization Communities.
Mega Meetups are a 2.5 day event:
Day 1 (Friday) - arrival day: Check-in to the hotel, group dinner.
Day 2 (Saturday) - Meetup day 1: Usually lasts about 8 hours and ends with a social gathering.
Day 3 (Sunday) - Meetup day 2: Usually lasts about 4 hours and ends with a social gathering. Hotel check-out.
All days will have mingling time, workshops, presentations, and - of course - discussion panels to make sure ALL your questions are answered.
*Note that this schedule may vary slightly based on Community needs/requests.
What are the goals?
Focus on diverse content and deep dives into important cross-functional topics.
Hear and share diverse ideas from the Map Editor, Beta, and Localization Communities.
Strengthen bonds between community members (see who's behind their username!)
Create cross-learning opportunities for both Waze Staff and Community Members.
Community Leadership and Waze Staff to get to know each other.
Hear feedback and discuss challenges.
Who is invited?
These events are for leading members of the Map Editor, Beta, and Localization Communities.
We will invite both Champs and community leaders who are involved in the Map Editor, Beta, and Localization Communities.
The Waze team selects participants from those who registered, and decides on the final list of participants.
Please keep in mind that space is limited and we aim to have a good mix of new and veteran participants from the Map Editor, Beta, and Localization communities.
When is the next Mega Meetup?
Once dates are finalized, they will be posted in the Registered Events list and in the Meetup Calendar.
How are they planned?
Mega Meetups are planned and organized by Waze staff.
As we approach the date of the event, we will inform the community on the Waze Forum, and post a registration form.
After registration, you will receive an email to confirm your participation along with all necessary information.
What's covered by Waze?
Two-night stay at the event hotel for each participant, and food and beverage during the event.
Transportation costs are covered to the city where the Meetup is being held, but will not cover the cost of additional transit to the Meetup location (taxi, rental car, etc.).
Travel insurance is not included. Participants need to remember to activate their travel insurance policy.
Will Waze staff come to the MEGA meetup?
Absolutely!
Does Waze bring SWAG (t-shirts, stickers, etc.)?
Yes, we will do our best to bring SWAG to the even - subject to local import laws.
