This Privacy Policy explains how the Wayo app ("Wayo", "the app", "we", "us", or "our") handles your information. Wayo is developed by Yassine Hammouti. We have designed Wayo to be private by default: your parking data stays on your device and, if you choose, in your own private iCloud account. We do not operate any server that collects your data, we do not use any advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. We use only one privacy-first, anonymous analytics service to understand how the app is used and improve it, as described below.
By using Wayo, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. SUMMARY
- Wayo does not collect your personal data on any server we control.
- Wayo has no user accounts and no login.
- Wayo does not use any advertising, attribution, or cross-app tracking software, and does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- Wayo uses one privacy-first, anonymous analytics service (Aptabase) that cannot identify you and does not track you across other apps or websites.
- Your parking data is stored locally on your device and, optionally, synced through your own private Apple iCloud account.
- The external services Wayo uses are Apple services (iCloud, Apple Maps, and the App Store / StoreKit), RevenueCat (to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions), and Aptabase (anonymous usage analytics).
2. INFORMATION WAYO USES
Wayo only uses the information needed to help you find your parked car and to improve the app. Your parking content is created by you and stays under your control.
a) Location data
With your permission, Wayo uses your device location ("When In Use" only) to mark where you parked, measure the distance and direction back to your car, and guide you back using the map, compass, and AR walk-back features. Wayo uses precise location while you are using the app. Wayo never requests "Always / Background" location and does not track your location in the background. Your parking coordinates are stored with each saved parking spot on your device and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud.
b) Camera
With your permission, Wayo uses the camera so you can take a photo of your parking spot and to display the live AR view that guides you back to your car. The AR camera view is shown live and is never recorded or saved.
c) Photos
With your permission, Wayo lets you choose an existing photo from your photo library to attach to a parking spot. Wayo only accesses the specific photo you select; it does not read your full photo library and does not write photos to your library.
d) Microphone
With your permission, Wayo lets you record a short voice note about your parking spot. Voice notes are saved locally on your device.
e) Content you create
Wayo stores the information you enter, such as vehicle name and details, license plate, floor or level, parking meter / expiry time, return reminders, notes, photos, and voice notes. This content is stored locally and, if iCloud sync is enabled, in your private iCloud.
f) Notifications
With your permission, Wayo sends you local notifications on your device for parking meter expiry alerts and "time to head back" return reminders. These are scheduled locally on your device. Wayo does not use remote push notifications and does not collect a push token.
g) Purchases and subscriptions
Wayo offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions that unlock premium features — currently a weekly plan and a yearly plan. The available plans, their duration, and their pricing may change in the future. Payment is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit / the App Store; Wayo never sees or stores your payment card or billing details. To validate purchases and manage your subscription status across your devices, Wayo uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service that acts as our service provider. RevenueCat receives purchase information (such as the product purchased, transaction and receipt data, purchase and renewal status, country, platform, and device/app information) together with a randomly generated app user identifier. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment card details, and we do not use this information for advertising or to track you across other apps. This data is used only to deliver and restore your purchases and to keep your premium status up to date. RevenueCat's handling of this information is described in its privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/. Apple's processing of your payment is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
h) Anonymous usage analytics
To understand how the app is used and to improve it (for example, which steps of onboarding people complete, whether the paywall is viewed, and which features are used), Wayo uses Aptabase, a privacy-first, open-source analytics service that acts as our service provider. Aptabase collects only anonymous, aggregated event data — for example the name of an in-app event (such as completing an onboarding step or viewing the paywall), the app version, operating system version, device model, locale, and approximate country (derived from your IP address, which is not stored). Aptabase does not use cookies, does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), does not assign you a persistent or cross-app identifier, and does not track you across other apps or websites. This data is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you. Aptabase processes this data within the European Union. 3. HOW YOUR DATA IS STORED
- On your device: Wayo stores your parking spots, vehicles, photos, voice notes, and settings locally on your device.
- In your iCloud (optional): If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud sync enabled in Wayo's settings, your parking data, vehicles, photos, and a few preferences are synced through Apple's CloudKit to your own private iCloud account so they stay up to date across your devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud database and is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in Wayo's settings, in which case Wayo stores data only on your device.
We, the developer, cannot access the data in your private iCloud account.
4. EXTERNAL SERVICES WAYO USES
Wayo relies primarily on Apple services to function:
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit): optional sync of your parking data across your devices, in your private iCloud account.
- Apple Maps: to display the map and to convert a parking coordinate into a readable street address (reverse geocoding). For this, the coordinate is sent to Apple's mapping service.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: to process optional in-app purchases.
These services are operated by Apple and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/).
Wayo also uses two third-party service providers:
- RevenueCat: solely to validate and manage in-app purchases and subscriptions, as described in section 2(g). Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/.
- Aptabase: solely for privacy-first, anonymous usage analytics, as described in section 2(h). Privacy policy: https://aptabase.com/legal/privacy.
5. SHARING YOUR PARKING SPOT
Wayo includes an optional feature that lets you share your parking spot with someone else using the standard iOS share sheet. You choose what to include (for example the address, a map link, a photo, meter info, or details) and you choose where to send it (for example Messages or Mail). 6. INFORMATION WE DO NOT COLLECT
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it except with the service providers described in this policy (Apple, RevenueCat, and Aptabase) strictly to operate and improve the app.
- We do not use advertising or attribution software.
- The analytics we use (Aptabase) are anonymous and cannot identify you.
- Apart from RevenueCat (purchases) and Aptabase (anonymous analytics), we do not use any third-party SDKs.
- We do not track you and do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA).
- We do not require an account, email, or sign-in.
7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Wayo is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because Wayo does not collect personal data on our servers and the analytics it uses are anonymous, no such information is gathered.
8. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Because your data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account, you remain in control:
- You can grant or revoke Location, Camera, Microphone, Photos, and Notifications permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
- You can turn iCloud sync on or off in Wayo's settings.
- You can delete any parking spot, vehicle, photo, or voice note inside the app.
- You can delete all of your data by deleting the app and, if you used iCloud sync, by removing Wayo's data from your iCloud account in iOS Settings.
9. DATA RETENTION
Your data is kept for as long as you keep it in the app (and in your iCloud, if sync is enabled). When you delete it, it is removed from your device and from your private iCloud upon sync. Anonymous analytics events are retained by Aptabase in aggregate and cannot be linked back to you.
10. SECURITY
Your data is stored using Apple's standard on-device protections and, when iCloud sync is enabled, Apple's iCloud security. Because we do not host your data, it is never transmitted to or stored on servers we control, other than the anonymous analytics events sent to Aptabase.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Wayo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
