Byblos
Byblos
The Byblos Nymphaeum stands on the northern slopes of the acropolis – where the Crusader castle is located – amidst Ottoman-era buildings and the souk. As early as 1936, Roman sculptures, including an Orpheus, had been found in the area, but the excavation of the fountain were carried out by J. Lauffray four years later.
The monument occupies a space along the colonnaded street that wound its way along the slopes of the acropolis, providing access to the elevated area.
