OBJECTIVES

To develop the infrastructure and the basic needs of the school in the hope of establishing a student friendly environment in the school.
To appreciate and encourage the varied skills in the students through organization of competitions in several disciplines.
To promote the importance of education and resolve pertinent problems encountered in the field through motivational workshops.
To promote the spiritual wellbeing of the community through the development of the infrastructure and the surrounding of the temple.
To organize a health camp for the villagers with the participation of consultants in various specialities. The following will be achieved by way of this;
- Identification and provision of proper solutions to the health related problems villagers face and referring them to relevant health facilities.
- Provision of knowledge to the community on preventive health.

1. Construction of two new classrooms for Ordinary Level classes.

Since the space inside main hall is not enough to hold 6 classes simultaneously, we have planned to build two new classrooms for the Ordinary level classes.
Since the renovation of the main hall was requested from the local government and approved, Yatigalpoththa Kanishata Vidyalaya will not get another development project in recent future. Therefore, if we do not intervene it will take several more years for the school to obtain new classrooms through the standard procedure.
When the renovation of the main hall starts, students will have to shift their classrooms to another place temporarily. Building two new classrooms will facilitate their education for the period of construction.
Children in the generations to come will be benefited by having a separate classroom for their Ordinary level studies and a higher percentage of students will continue doing Advanced levels with improved learning environment.
Estimated budget for the construction is mentioned below.

2. Construction of Buddhist Shrine.

Our target is to replace the existing outdated ruinous shrine room with a newly constructed Buddhist shrine with a pleasing architecture in a more convenient place.

Villagers and principal of the school are willing to have a newly constructed shrine room instead of renovating the existing shrine room.

Having a well ordered Buddhist shrine in front will give a calm look to the school and it will have a positive influence on the students who are currently not that enthusiastic about their education.

3. Repairing of non-functioning computers and renovation of the computer lab

A total of ten computers are present, out of which only three computers are functioning. All chairs are damaged.

4. Provision of sports equipment

The school does not have a teacher for sports and volleyball is the only sport that is being currently functioning in the school.

Estimated cost = Rs. 10,000/-

5. Provision of essentials for class rooms

Even though school has an adequate number of desks and chairs for children, most of them are broken. Teachers don’t have desks and chairs.

6. Remodeling of laboratories and library

Remodeling of laboratories and library Even though laboratories and library have adequate resources, they are out of order and non-functioning. The two laboratories and library will be remodeled into a more student friendly manner.

7. Colour washing of the school

Estimated total cost = Rs. 80,000.00

(Including outdoor paint, indoor paint, wood paint, thinner and painting equipments)

8. Provision of basic needs of the school children

o School bags

Estimated total cost = Rs. 200,000.00

9. Organization of motivational programs, seminar series, coaching camps

The majority of these students lack parental guidance and motivation due to their socioeconomic backgrounds. In order to address this issue, various motivational programmes such as a series of lectures for both students and parents, leadership training programmes, speech contests, art and poetry competitions are to be held, to stimulate students to attend school and to rekindle the creativity within them.
