What is wassana diyawara?

“Wassana Diyawara” is an effort of the Medical Students’ Buddhist Association of Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, to bring blossoms to the lives of people those who endure. This project encompasses on the development of the basic facilities regarding education and health to create some comfort to harsh lives. “Wassana Diyawara” is organized annually as a charity project by the medical students of Buddhist Association with immense support of the entire student body.

Hectic urban life with lots of responsibilities has made us forget that there is a calm and tranquil simple life out in the countryside. Few hours away from the capital, we will meet these simple yet determined human beings who struggle with life due to economic problems. Having the same need for education and health services as any other citizen in the country, they put their best effort to obtain these two basic aspects of life despite the financial issues.

This year's project is a continuation of the highly successful series of projects spreading over a decade, showcasing the unity and determination of the Colombo medics and drawing praise from all quarters.
