Listen to the words I say
by Gianna Avenoso
Why can ́t you listen to the words I say?
Could it be lack of sight or sense at all?
So ignorantly blind; see where I stay?
Open the eardrums to gavels of pray.
Sense the jukebox love songs wafting through the halls.
Why can ́t you listen to the words I say?
Hear the noises when my mouth utters grey,
Notice me cleaved down, begging to crawl.
So ignorantly blind; see where I stay?
When I stroll madness, will you leave me astray?
The passions and aspirations I once recall.
Why can ́t you listen to the words I say?
Desperate for spotlights that are shut away,
Wanting touch, but warmth cut and served so small.
So ignorantly blind; see where I stay?
I wander empty from the night to day,
Alone and frightened of the dark I appall.
Why can ́t you listen to the words I say?
So ignorantly blind; see where I stay?
