The Apiary

Our apiary includes six hives. We buy  gentle talian honey bees. They indeed are gentle and provide good and large amounts of honey. We also have a few ferral hives that showed up and took up residence in some of our emtpy hive boxes that weren't occupied at the time. Although we believe they are Africanized because of their aggressiveness, they are champion honey produces so we take good care of them and are happy to provide them a safe home. Our lavender field has over 100 lavender plants of different varieties. We planted the lavender field just for the bees so they have year round foraging available.  Our honey bees also serve as pollinators for our orchards. Many farmers rent hives for pollination. We are thankful to have our own hives for this purpose as well.
