Thanon Thahan (Soldier Road)... this name signifies a deep history of national defense and economic dynamism in Warin Chamrap District. Back in the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V), as Siam faced threats from Western colonialism, Warin Chamrap, being the gateway to the Northeast and bordering neighboring countries, was designated a crucial strategic point. The Siamese army established military forces in Ubon Ratchathani Province as early as 1888 (B.E. 2431). Later, in 1928 (B.E. 2471), the 3rd Battalion moved its headquarters to Warin Chamrap, becoming known as "Warin Military Camp" (ค่ายทหารวาริน), which was the foundation for the road's name, "Thanon Thahan."
