AP Exam Policy
Students must have a final exam or final project for each AP class they take. Since the AP test scores do not come back until mid to late summer, it is impossible to predict a final exam grade (which if 20% of the student’s total semester grade). Instead of simply giving the student an “EX”, the students must meet the district exam exemption policy in order to be exempted from what would at that time be a teacher-made exam (and would thus fall under those criteria for exemption). Also, this exemption would only be available for seniors taking the AP classes and not underclassmen.
Why so much writing? No one ever tells students why they should write something. "Well, you have to do this assignment…get this grade..." No! You need to learn to think. Thinking allows you to act effectively in this world. Writing allows you to think and it allows us to mimic the exams you'll take part in.
