This strand showcases how a teacher design and use appropriate assessment tools.
TABLE OF SPECIFICATION (TOS)
The Table of Specification (TOS) is a critical assessment tool that ensures the alignment of test items with learning competencies and instructional time. This evidence was chosen to showcase how assessment was carefully planned to reflect the taught content and to uphold fairness and validity in evaluating learners’ performance.
I selected this Table of Specification because it illustrates my capacity to design assessments that are balanced, objective, and rooted in the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELCs). Constructing the TOS required me to thoughtfully distribute the number of items across different cognitive levels and learning targets. It deepened my understanding of how to fairly represent the subject matter in the tests I give and helped ensure that the assessment reflects both the depth and scope of classroom instruction. This evidence is valuable in my portfolio as it documents my commitment to designing purposeful assessments and being transparent with learners about what is expected of them.
I aim to further improve my skills in constructing assessment tools that incorporate higher order thinking skills (HOTS) aligned with Bloom’s Taxonomy. I plan also to explore the use of digital platforms for automating and analyzing TOS and assessment alignment, as well as to seek feedback from mentors and peers to continuously refine my assessment design practices.
This strand focuses on how to track the students' progress.
CLASS RECORD
This class record is used to track the learners' performance in Mathematics for Quarter 4. I will use this record in monitoring progress and guide instructional decisions, in line with PPST Strand 5.2.1.
I selected this class record as evidence of how I monitor and evaluate student progress in a structured and consistent manner. As a beginning teacher, maintaining accurate records of assessments helps me identify which learners are excelling and which ones need further support. This record is valuable because it informs my instructional decisions, supports fair and objective grading, and provides a basis for parent-teacher conversations. Including this in my portfolio demonstrates my commitment to data-driven teaching and my growing ability to use assessment results to guide learning.
I aim to enhance my assessment practices by learning how to analyze patterns in student performance and use the data to provide more targeted interventions and differentiated instructions.
ATTENDANCE SHEET
This attendance sheet tracks students presents daily and helps me identify learners with frequent absences. Monitoring attendance allows me to follow-up the parents and offers catch-up support, ensuring no learner falls behind. This is an additional support of my effort to monitor learner progress as aligned with PPST Strand 5.2.1.
It is included to show my effort in ensuring learners are present and engaged. I selected it because regular attendance is closely linked to student success, and tracking it has helped me spot patterns and intervene when learners are frequently absent. Its value lies in helping me build stronger relationships with families and ensuring that students who miss class receive appropriate follow-up and support. This evidence reflects my understanding of the importance of learner engagement as part of the teaching and learning process.
I plan to strengthen my strategies for supporting chronically absent learners by coordinating more closely with parents, guidance counselors, and school programs to improve attendance and reduce learning gaps.
