PROBLEM BASED LESSON PLAN

This problem-based lesson was designed to teach the geometric concepts of sectors and segments of a circle through real-life applications such as layout designing. The lesson combines content knowledge in mathematics with creative, real-world scenarios that promote critical thinking and engagement. It is also linked with English as this involves reading comprehension.

I selected this lesson plan as evidence of my growing ability to apply strong content knowledge in mathematics and connect it across practical contexts. The task required learners to analyze circle components and apply formulas in solving problems that mirrored real-life challenges. Through this activity, I was able to demonstrate not only my understanding of geometry but also how it can be made meaningful and accessible to learners. It shows how I integrate content knowledge with relevant, student-centered instruction that strengthens both skills and understanding.

To improve my teaching practice, I aim to further explore interdisciplinary approaches in mathematics, especially integrating science, economics, or technology to help learners see the broader relevance of mathematical concepts.

This PowerPoint presentation on Cordillera Indigenous Health Practices and Engineering & Architecture is presented as evidence for my positive use of ICT in the classroom. The lesson showcases how technology can be effectively harnessed to deliver meaningful, culturally sensitive, and engaging content. In designing this material, ICT served not only as a tool for visual presentation but as a medium to promote deeper understanding and appreciation of indigenous knowledge systems.

I selected this presentation as evidence because it demonstrates how I used ICT to respectfully and effectively communicate complex cultural content. By using PowerPoint, I was able to combine visual aids, concise text, and structured sequencing to enhance student engagement and learning. The platform enabled me to present rituals and engineering practices in a way that was clear, informative, and visually stimulating.

Moreover, I was mindful of the ethical responsibility that comes with representing indigenous knowledge in digital formats. I ensured that the content was accurate and respectfully presented, modeling the responsible use of ICT when dealing with culturally sensitive topics. Through this, I promoted an inclusive learning environment and encouraged students to value diversity while recognizing the potential of ICT to be used as a tool for cultural preservation and education.

My goal for this strand is to continue integrating ICT tools meaningfully into content delivery, especially when dealing with sensitive or diverse cultural topics. Also to explore more interactive digital platforms that can support learner engagement while upholding ethical and respectful representation, and to guide students in developing critical awareness of how ICT can be used positively—to inform, to connect, and to empower communities and voices that are often marginalized.
