Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®)
Colleges/Universities use your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid. After submission, you’ll receive your Student Aid Report
The 2023–24 FAFSA form is now available for the 2023–24 award year, which runs from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
You submit a FAFSA if you are a U.S. Citizen, National or Permanent Resident.
What you will need to complete the FAFSA:
FSA ID (username/password)
parent/guardian FSA ID (if not "independent")
Your Social Security Number (SSN)
parent/guardian Social Security Number (SSN)
If your parent/guardian does not have a SSN you will enter 000-00-0000 and print a parent signature page at the end
Drivers License (if you have one)
Your 2021 Tax Records/2021 W-2 Forms
Parent/Guardian 2021 Tax records/2021 W-2 Forms
Any records of untaxed income
Any records of assets
List of schools you're interested in applying for
ex. Southwestern College, SD City College, SDSU
