In WA CURE 1 we developed a distributed leadership structure connecting 44 faculty leaders from 25 community colleges across the state and SBCTC to create a shared vision and build leadership capacity. This vision became the foundation of the WA CURE 2 proposal and this consortium.
We documented systemic barriers, challenges, and opportunities for expanding UGR experiences. We also piloted a survey to understand the student experience of undergraduate research. This consortium was built to help faculty and colleges overcome these common barriers and to maximize student outcomes.
We secured more funding to support this work.
$50,000 from Guided Pathways team at the State Board (2023-24) to support course based undergraduate research experiences in high enrollment entry level courses.
$2,000,000 from the National Science Foundation (# 2332652) to build this consortium at the State Board and offer faculty stipends to develop and implement CUREs and provide professional development for 5 years (2024-2029) .
