This is a fantastic question! I am happy to let you in on the AMAZING role of a school counselor and how this role can truly benefit your student and the entire school.
As the school counselor for Valley View Charter Montessori, it is my role to support your child's academic, social/emotional, and career development. There are many ways I accomplish this so that every student can be supported. I offer a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for all counseling services; this allows me to offer the appropriate level of intervention, support and guidance to meet the individual needs of all students. Counseling cannot be a one size fits all model. I use evidence based counseling techniques and interventions as well as Solution-Focused Brief Counseling when meeting with students and addressing needs.
If you have any questions on how I can help your student, please fill out the referral form.
The goal of PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and at VVCM is to create a social culture in our school that will encourage positive behaviors and interactions, while discouraging problem behaviors. This social culture will lead to a safe environment where students achieve academically and build positive relationships with each other and with adults. The foundation of the approach emphasizes teaching students the behaviors we expect to see, reminding them to use those behaviors, acknowledging them when they do, and correcting them when they do not.
