Vermont Registered Apprenticeship Program - Teaching License

Vermont Registered Apprenticeship Program started in the fall of 2024 as a collaborative effort between many parties including the Vermont Rural Education Collaborative, Vermont-NEA, Vermont Department of Labor, Vermont Agency of Education and the districts in the Northeast Kingdom. While this program launched in the summer of 2024, this website will serve as a place to learn more about the program including the program expectations, the requirements for licensure, and who to contact if you have questions. Participants completing the requirements will apply for licensure through the Vermont-AOE Peer Review Process.

Interested in the Apprenticeship Program? If you are teaching on a provisional license, reach out to your central office (Superintendent, HR Person) and tell them you are interested. They will need to apply on your behalf by contact Andrew Prowten (andrew.prowten@vermont.gov) or Amelia Wurzburg (amelia.wurzburg@vermont.gov).

Orientation Sessions:

New Apprentices: August 1st from 9am-12 or Tuesday, August 5th from 2:00-5:00pm, or Monday, August 25th from 6:30-8:30pm. Apprentice Teachers will receive information via Juliette Longchamp. Zoom Link - First seminar class is September 16th (click on the VLP Seminar Tab for all class dates.)

Weekly Seminars: Tuesdays 4:30-6:00pm via Zoom. Assignments and link on the Hub!

Apprentice Mentors: Tuesday, August 5th from 9am-11 or Friday, August 8th from 12-2pm. Zoom Link for the Meetings. Mentors who were unable to make an orientation meeting should schedule a meeting with Juliette Longchamp by clicking here.

Ongoing Mentor Follow-Ups: 3:30-4:30 via Zoom on 10/6, 12/9, 2/17, 4/14, and 6/2.

Administrators of Apprentice Teachers: July 31st from 9-10:30am or Thursday, August 7th from 1-2:30 pm. Zoom Link

An invitation will be sent to people as they are identified as Teacher Apprentices, Apprentice Mentors or Administrators of the Teacher Apprentices.
