Gabby (she/her/hers) is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Clinical Science program at Virginia Tech. Gabby's research focuses on transdiagnostic risk and maintenance factors for eating disorders and comorbid mood disorders. Her specific interests include gender, sexuality, perfectionism, and research involving understudied populations (i.e., LGBTQ+ individuals). Gabby plans to explore shame and perfectionism’s associations with gender identity, sexuality, and body image in the context of disordered eating. In her free time, Gabby loves spending time with her friends and cats, listening to podcasts or audiobooks, and engaging in creative activities like painting or embroidery.
Jackie (she/her/hers) is a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Science program at Virginia Tech. She received her BA from Michigan State University and her MA from the University of Chicago. Her master’s thesis investigated the role of stress in the association among food insecurity, eating disorder pathology, and binge eating-related appetitive traits. Her research interests include exploring the relationship between food insecurity and disordered eating, as well as investigating the underlying mechanisms of eating disorders. Jackie is also interested in improving access to eating disorder treatment and leveraging qualitative studies to understand methods to accomplish this. In her free time, she enjoys taking dance classes, playing the flute, and reading.
Dayna (she/her/hers) is a second-year doctoral student in the Clinical Science program. She received her BS from Florida State University in 2021. Before coming to Virginia Tech, she worked at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as a post-bacc research assistant. Her research interests include examining the risk and maintenance factors associated with eating pathology. In her free time, she likes to take care of her plants and cat, Luna. She also enjoys going to farmer’s markets, baking/cooking, yoga, and playing cozy video games (i.e., Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley).
