This is a three year pilot program (2019-2023)funded by a NEA Great Public Schools Grant awarded to VSLA and VT NEA.
School Library Leadership: Mentoring Matters pairs newly hired school librarians with librarians trained in mentoring and the implementation of the AASL standards (2017).
The ultimate goal is to create a statewide roster of seasoned school librarians available to school districts as trained mentors for novice school librarians in every region of the state.
Mentoring
is an essential component of the preparation and induction of new librarians
is fundamental for the continuum of professional preparation, development and leadership
improves teacher effectiveness, increases student learning, reduces educator turnover and improves school climate.
