Alphonzo "Phonz" Terrell and DeVaris Brown, former Twitter employees, are launching Spill, a social media platform that puts culture first. Spill will use blockchain technology to track how posts go viral and compensate the creators behind them, but the founders have stressed that Spill is not a web3 company. Spill will have a live news feed called "spills," a feature called "tea parties" for hosting online and IRL events, and a content moderation model using AI that has been built by people from the culture. Spill will also offer in-app bonuses to users who create and engage with content on the platform. The platform is expected to launch in six to eight weeks and users can sign up for the waitlist now.
