Utah has a major housing affordability and availability issue. In Jay D's time on the North Ogden City Council he's proud to have been a part of pushing for more home ownership opportunities with potential developers as opposed to for-rent product. Jay D has been a part of making sure that upcoming developments are helping North Ogden residents with the dream of home ownership. In Jay D's time on the City Council he's participated in public negotiations with developers that create win-win results where North Ogden has received donations of land and money to go towards Parks in the area of developments, this ultimately reduces the tax burden on our residents!
North Ogden has experienced rapid growth, especially in the last few years. Jay D believes that the city should stick to our zoning map and general plan and allow as few of exceptions and re-zones as possible, especially when rezone requests create higher density than previously allowed.
Before being elected to the North Ogden City Council in 2021 Jay D served as the Chairman of the North Ogden Economic Development Committee. Many exciting businesses are currently in various stages of the approval process in the area of 2700 N and Washington Blvd. These businesses will help bring in sales tax revenues which will reduce the Property Tax burden on North Ogden residents.
