Brian was raised in Georgetown, graduated from Ponderosa High School, served in Vietnam and came home to raise his two boys Randy and Tim, with his wife of 39 years in Diamond Springs.
Brian was inspired by his father Fred G. DeBerry who served as the El Dorado County Surveyor for 20 years. He took his education and what he learned from his father and worked in surveying for local surveyors, the El Dorado County Department of Transportation, El Dorado County Irrigation District, then after 23 years retired from Caltrans. His road work experience will be an invaluable asset on the Board.
Brian created the editorial paper “The Miner’s Inch” to inform County residents of where their taxes are being spent with a whimsical and “Common Sense” approach.
After all his research into County politics, Brian could not merely sit on the sidelines and watch his community suffer from the mismanagement of local resources, increasing debt, increased presence of transients, locals being pushed out of the housing market, bad roads, poor vegetation management practices, development without the necessary road capacity and a declining economy. He decided to make a difference by throwing his hat in the ring to run for Supervisor.
