How the Volunteer Firefighter Alliance earned GuideStar's highest honor

Volunteer Firefighter Alliance has been making waves over the past couple of years because of the things that the organization has achieved in its commitment to provide more opportunities for volunteer fire departments all over the United States. It has done well enough to earn the highest honor awarded by GuideStar.

GuideStar is a recognized name for its standing as being among the first central sources of information on U.S. nonprofits. It is even the world's largest source of information about nonprofit organizations. Because of its continued evolution in the nonprofit space, GuideStar then merged with Foundation Center in 2019 to become Candid as it is known today.

Volunteer Firefighter Alliance was already on GuideStar's radar early on, but the recognition came at the heels of VFA's addition of extensive information to its nonprofit profile on GuideStar, which includes basic contact and organizational information, in-depth financial information, qualitative information about goals, strategies, and capabilities, and quantitative information about results and progress toward its mission.
